Slow Food Revolution

When you boil down civilization, one thing quickly becomes apparent. Food is destiny. How we go about growing and handling our food defines how we act as a society. Nothing could be clearer proof of this concept than fast food.

What is fast food? It is “food” that is so refined, most of the inherent nutritional value is removed in exchange for making it “stay” and efficiently prepared. In a rush, rush society, what could be more appropriate? On top of the nutritional issues, we have others covering political, ethical, environmental, and cultural that must be taken into account.

The slow food revolution suggests an alternative approach to feeding the population of the world. It questions whether the industrialization of our food is a good idea. From the elimination of local rural farming communities to the damage done to soil to the odd diseases we now see despite stunning medical advancements, the slow food revolution is a statement of protest and self preservation.

Slow food is about knowing your food. Specifically, where does the food come from and how is it grown. The focus is on locally produced food that is not refined to the hilt. By supporting nutritious food grown by local farmers, we forgo the industrialization of food. Just as importantly, we find that food that has not been processed taste excellent!

We will continually be adding content to this site and slow food resources as well. Join the revolution today and look forward to eating a delicious meal that will not kill you!
